Breaking Cycles wants to ensure that the children we work with are able to complete high school, so we have another program dedicated to supporting teens in continuing their education in middle and high school. Many children in Guatemala stop going to school after graduating 6th grade, but we do not want this to be the case with the children we work with. The cost of schooling for middle and high school is higher than elementary school, which is one of the reasons many children stop studying at this age. We understand the importance of education, so we continue to support teens in their schooling by paying for school fees, school supplies, uniforms, transportation, tutoring, and meals.
Experts estimate for every 10 Mayan children in Guatemala, only two will graduate high school. Those who do not complete high school have very little opportunity to find a good paying job and lift their families out of poverty. We are working to break that cycle.
All of these teens we support have graduated from the Creciendo Juntos Program and are continuing their education. The cost of sponsoring a teen is $2,000 a year. If you would like to support this program, please send us an email at creciendojuntossumpango@gmail.com
