Our Mission:

Breaking Cycles believes in pouring into our community by cultivating meaningful relationships that strengthen and restore the faith and hope of local Guatemalans.

We believe by empowering Guatemalans and leading a positive example we can break the negative cycles of abuse; physical and sexual abuse, alcoholism, addictions, poor nutrition, poverty and illiteracy in Sumpango Guatemala. With the proper tools and guidance, our vision is that this generation of Sumpango will grow with God, have a prosperous life, and become agents of change to break negative cycles for future generations.

'“I have helped build a house, add on two classrooms to a church/school, served in an orphanage and checked over 400 people’s eyesight, but most importantly I have shown God’s love and they, in return have shown love to me. Guatemala is more than just a mission trip to me, it’s a second home."

— Reilly Gene, Mission Trip Participant, Camas, Wa.

Our partnership with 20+ local churches and pastors has opened numerous opportunities for us to serve Sumpango. We believe the local church that has its finger on the pulse of the town and is aware of the needs of the people, so we are glad to partner with these churches and help the pastors serve their community well.

Breaking Cycles has continued to expand since its origin in 2012.  We now have even bigger visions for our future. Our desire and passion is to support this small community of children, ensuring each child receives the attention and care they deserve. We believe in the power of education and the importance of equipping these children once they become teens and young adults with a trade or skill that can increase the income of their families in the future. Education inspires hope for these children, giving them self-confidence to enhance their lives, and to invest in a bright future. Gifting children a sense of purpose reinforces their belief within themselves; that they are resilient and capable of establishing a stable and secure future .

Breaking Cycles believes in the power of relationships to open doors and provide opportunities for growth in the community. We we would like to extend an invitation to those who have the same desire to partner with us in helping holistically improve the lives of those in our community. Thank you for your prayers and support!
