Creciendo Juntos

“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
CrecienDo Juntos- Growing Together
In 2015 Breaking Cycles created Creciendo Juntos - Growing Together program. It was created in response to the high number of children not attending school in the community. The population in Sumpango, where Breaking Cycles works, is mostly indigenous. Parents work extremely hard farming or in small businesses, but still struggle to provide basic needs for their large families. This oftentimes puts education on the sidelines as something that isn’t a necessity.
79% of indigenous Guatemalans live in poverty
33% of indigenous adults cannot read or write
Breaking Cycles knows that the only way to to break the cycles of poverty is to receive a good education. For that reason this program was created. Creciendo Juntos supports families by covering all of the expenses of sending their children to school and providing additional support like tutoring and meals to assure the children can be successful. All of this is made possible through the support of generous donors who sponsor the children each year. Over 30 children are receiving support in their education through Creciendo Juntos.
For just $2,000 you can sponsor the education of a child in Sumpango for one year. This covers:
School Fees
Tutoring
Uniforms
School Supplies
Transportation
Lunch and Snack
The goal of Creciendo Juntos is to provide a complete education. This means not only focusing on intellectual growth, but also physical, physiological, social, and spiritual growth. We also want our students to have a real relationship with God, so we provide discipleship to our students with the help of a local pastor and other role models.
If you have any questions or would like to commit to sponsor the education of a child, please email us at creciendojuntossumpango@gmail.com. We look forward to hearing from you!
